After finishing my Ph.D, I got in contact with some companies searching for space to apply my experience in data science; however, soon enough I perceived that most of the companies were not data-oriented. So, as a consultant data engineer, I had two main roles: (1) propose solutions to automate data gathering and storing solar panels data, and (2) evaluate (in the field) the technical & financial viability of solar systems. During this time, it became very clear to me that data extraction and feature engineering are essential phases in the AI/ML ecosystems.

Managing many projects and supervising Msc. theses across different companies and universities push me outside my bubble and thus I could be part of paramount transformation with committed teams. Outstanding achievements:* Senior researcher responsible for creating the ALLMA project. The proposed framework follows the symbiotic simulation paradigm that closely associates a virtual (simulated) quadcopter with the real (physical) one. As a proof of concept, we built a quadcopter (with embedded BDI agents on ROS toolset) and connected it to its simulated version leveraging the sensor network based on the simulation results.

When I first started in LIACC I had minimal knowledge about Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. I devoured every book and paper I could get in touch with about AI/ML and boarded in almost philosophical discussion to test my boundaries. Also, I learned that meaningful contributions demand for organization, focus, resilience, and, most of all, failure. Applying intelligent computer algorithms in real-world problems help me to understand the potential of AI; as well as, leading high-performance teams help me to feel the impact of stimulating environments. Outstanding achievements:* Lead researcher responsible to implement an error detection solution able to locate faults in distributed and intelligent entities. This research was the first to apply spectrum-based fault diagnosis in multi-agent systems and opened up several possible applications of such techniques.* Researcher and solution architect of the Ubiquitous Multiagent Platform to Transportation Systems. The system's main goal was to orchestrate mechanisms to monitor vehicles and pedestrians enabling AI-driven decision making. Therefore, a distributed architecture composed by intelligence agents was proposed and tested in a simulated environment fed by real traffic data.

At the end of my graduation I had the chance to become a trainee engineer on General Electric Company in Oporto designing medium power electric systems (including motor controllers). My work there became the inspiration for my Msc. thesis which was to map response curves of electric and mechanical variables under different work loads for industrial applications. It also has been my first leadership experience in getting in contact with customers to discuss proposed solutions.
