Events Officer
CurrentLeading on challenges events such as the Berlin Marathon, Brighton Marathon and supporting on The Twilight Walk, our flagship event. I’ll continue to lead on our Family Days, taking our community to amazing venues around the UK. Working and leading on new projects and developing our events portfolio to keep up with current trends, are just some of the exciting things I do as an Events Officer.
Events Assistant
Being the first point of call for all fundraisers, assisting in the organisation and preparation for a variety of events, as well as helping out on the day!
Student
Customer Host
During the summer of my second year studying at University, I needed a part time job, to keep me busy during summer. I’ve always wanted to gain retail experience to gain new skills and try a whole new industry. After a successful interview, I was offered the role on the same day and begun the week after. The team made me feel so welcome and delivered thorough training, to ensure I know exactly what I’m doing. It’s great learning how to use a till and expand my customer service skills. It’s also lovely meeting new people and finding out why they decided to choose to work within retail.
Volunteer Staff
For one of my modules within my degree, we had to choose a charity and carry out 30 hours of volunteering. Cancer Research is an amazing charity, that raises money for an unbelievably important cause. I volunteered at a variety of fundraising events including, race for life and the shine walk. For one of the events, my role was Marshal Leader, therefore delivering leadership skills in order to look after the marshals assigned to me. For all the events, safety of the participants and motivating them was key, in order to make the events go ahead successfully.
Event Staff
My role at The Elvetham Hotel was to ensure that our guests are being looked after at all times in order to make their stay memorable. I set up our variety of rooms for specific events, for example Weddings, Birthday parties, Wakes or organised Dinners. I stay with our customers during their event to ensure they have everything they need at all times. I often help out in our restaurant serving our three-course menu and am fully trained to work behind the bar. Finally, even when guests are in their rooms, I deliver them whatever they need to make their stay to their satisfaction.
Activities Assistant
Within my role of activities assistant, I worked with another member of staff to lead an after school club at an Infant school one day a week. The children had the chance to play games with their friends and take part in sporting activities. It was key to ensure the children and safe at all times as well as enjoying themselves. I also worked for the summer camps, which took place in the summer holidays. Every day was different but making sure the children are safe was always the priority. Working with children was a great skill to achieve, as it creates valuable life skills that can be used again, for example responsibility, leadership and teamwork.
