As manager of the historic Cathedral Bookstore at Christ Church Cathedral, I work with a dedicated team of volunteers to provide books of interest and seasonal gifts to church members, downtowners, and visitors, as well as a quiet haven for browsing and discussing beloved books. Additionally, I coordinate with Ministry Staff to plan and support book-related events and write book-related articles for church publications.

I began my editorial career at Doubleday & Co. in 1986, and, since leaving New York to become a teacher, wife and mother, I have continued to edit general trade books on a freelance basis. At Doubleday and Bright Sky Press, where I was a partner from 2008 until it transitioned its mission to a non-profit entity in 2018. I have edited over two hundred books for trade and private publication, in addition to serving as project manager and writing all marketing copy for a large percentage of them. Being an independent editor allows me to help authors tell their stories in the best way possible, to continue learning about the delightful and challenging nuances of written English, and to have the flexibility to be present to my family, volunteer in the community and pursue my own creative endeavors.

After working with a team of managing partners to bring Bright Sky Press to Houston in 2008, I served as editorial director and then became publisher in 2013. In 2014, I became sole manager of the company, overseeing all editorial, design, marketing and finance. By early 2016 I formed a new management team, which allowed me to move into the role of advisory partner. I introduced projects to the company and edited independently. Sustaining a vibrant independent press with a history in Texas since 2001 was an exciting and meaningful experience which provided me with a deep admiration for the stories and storytellers of our region.
