MarsdenThesis Title: Endothelial Heterogeneity: A Role for Epigenetic Pathways in Constitutive Gene Expression• Conceptualized and executed independent research to determine the epigenetic basis for heterogeneous expression of cell adhesion molecules in the vascular endothelium - Designed, conducted, analyzed, interpreted, and troubleshot experiments - Overriding goal of this work was to contribute fresh perspectives to the mechanisms that establish cell-to-cell heterogeneity and how these can contribute to our understanding of vascular diseases and potentially affect the way in which we treat them• Contributed primary data and written work to 2 scholarly papers focusing on the epigenetic basis for heterogeneity in gene expression patterns found in the human vasculature system• Attended and presented research extensively at several local (4 times) and international conferences (1 time) attended by 200+ scientists and peers• Provided scientific training and mentoring to 2 undergraduate students conducting short-term projects

• Routinely processed internal product complaints at the CIVA Pharmacy Services Center by logging complaint information, executing an investigation plan as needed, and following up with evaluation results• Ensured the proper documentation and disposal of quarantined pharmaceutical materials and products in compliance with Baxter procedures as well as regulatory agency requirements• Liaised with colleagues and business partners to author a disinfectant qualification protocol for the CIVA Center and determined a cost and timeline for completion • Assisted in the maintenance, update, and identification of gaps in company-sensitive documents such as job descriptions, training records, SOPs, product information binders, sanitation records, and Quality Agreements with 3rd party suppliers/manufacturers and testing laboratories • Provided support to the Field Corrective Action (FCA)/ Recall and Hold Management Systems in terms of collating FCA communications, logging customer responses to FCAs, and creating a matrix to represent FCA and Holds information • Assisted with the re-evaluation of existing suppliers and ensured that all information was current and complete • Maintained the shared Quality inbox by forwarding incoming e-mails to responsible individuals within the Quality, Product Surveillance, and Pharmacovigilance Departments• Provided general administrative support as needed (copying/printing, typing transcripts, organizing binders, converting hard copy files to PDFs, sending couriers, obtaining signatures, etc.)

Thesis Title: Identification of Small Molecular Probes to Study Developmental Regulation in Streptomyces coelicolor• Utilized spectroscopic techniques to facilitate cell-based screening approaches to identify small molecules which may be useful as biochemical tools • Evaluated a transcriptional reporter system to determine the effect of 15 bioactive compounds on the expression of developmental genes in Streptomyces coelicolor • Investigated Streptomyces morphological differentiation in order to compare results to published data and provide supporting evidence for models of genetic regulatory pathways • Routinely discussed project updates and collaborated with other lab members and supervisor during weekly meetings
