Often working with colleagues and those I am mentoring, I offer a variety of services related to conflict resolution primarily but not exclusively in the natural resource and public policy arenas. Following are a few examples: I have mediated development of regulations for aircraft noise at Grand Canyon with a committee of 12 different interests over a period of three years. I have facilitated highly emotional public meetings concerning toxic waste disposal for EPA. I have trained environmental leaders, ranchers and farmers to build alliances around common goals, overcoming inherent distrust. I have helped the Department of Interior design a way to better relate to tribal governments and communities on a national scale, mediating a group of tribal leaders and DOI leadership to develop a Tribal Consultation Policy for all agencies and bureaus within the Department.

I have contracted with EPA for several mediation, facilitation and training projects. Currently I am facilitating the EPA-Tribal Wetlands Project, an effort to identify and implement ways that EPA can help tribes become more effective managers and protectors of their wetlands resources. Among other projects are: working with three tribes in Oklahoma to explore future scenarios for a jointly owned school property, contaminated with toxic waste and cleaned up by the agency; mediation of dispute over water quality in the Alamosa River in southern Colorado, contaminated by a gold mine; delivery of training programs to EPA staff around the country and in headquarters on "Dealing with Hostile Meetings and Difficult People" and "The Power of Apology".

I provided consultation, design, facilitation, and summary services for the development of National Forest Planning Rule, including the tribal consultation process. I also facilitated three Tribal Listening Sessions on Sacred Sites for the Navajo and Hopi. I facilitated three national tribal conference calls on the Planning Rule, attended by over 100 tribes. I also was part of a team designing and facilitating a process for the revision of the Cibola Forest Plan in New Mexico.

I have contracted with USIECR to provide mediation and facilitation for several projects. These included: Revison of the Forest Planning Rule; Tribal-federal conversations on management of trust lands for the BIA; Development of the Tribal Consultation Policy for the Department of Interior; Aircraft noise regulations over Grand Canyon; and more

I began my career with Western Network, a small ADR non-profit organization, founded by John Folk-Williams, and specializing in natural resource disputes, particularly water. We worked with government agencies and traditional communities to increase understanding, build trust and resolve disputes. We also published a series of books, "Water in the West," exploring conflicts around scarce water supplies in the southwest.

I served as Liaison for Indian Affairs with the Governor of New Mexico, arranging governmental summits and helping resolve state-tribal conflicts.
