TEDxNHS speaker I am an international paramedical Tattoo Artist Expert & Trainer who focuses on using my artistic skill as a tattoo artist of 11 years to aid emotional and physical healing following mastectomy surgery.I travelled to Texas in 2017 to train in permanent 3D Nipple medical tattoos which made me the first person in the UK to offer this service. This then led me onto founding the UKs first Mastectomy Tattoo registered charity - the Nipple Innovation Project in 2018.NIP is a charity dedicated to offering the highest quality possible 3D, realistic & long lasting Nipple Tattoos for breast cancer survivors, which aid emotional healing. We are building a directory of qualified, dedicated and compassionate artists capable of tattooing this challenging and delicate scar tissue so this service is more accessible to the breast cancer community.NIP covers the costs of treatments for people who may need financial support, following the trauma that cancer brings.I felt this healing tattoo service should be considered essential and not a luxury, everyone should have access to the highest standard possible without cost being a factor.I am keen to educate people on the difference in tattoo options available, we work with worldwide innovative leaders in this field to bring a positive change with the breast cancer survivors wellbeing at the forefront of our mission. We can do better, we are doing better and i will personally continue to advocate for better within the breast cancer community so no one has to go through loosing their nipples twice like my auntie did.We proudly partnered with Bradford teaching hospitals NHS trust in 2023 to offer this service to their patients & plan to connect with other trusts throughout the UK as they begin to see the value in the service we offer. I am known internationally for my dedication to medical tattooing over the years, including training & teaching advanced artistic medical tattoo methods through my academy - Lucy Thompson Areola Academy where students from all over the world travel to learn my proven techniques.I’ve been featured in dozens of articles such as BBC News, Sky News, Daily Mail, Inked Magazine to name a few.
