Informal education has been a part of my life since my first internship in 2003. I have taught in environments as diverse as hot desert, snowy mountains, busy cities and slow-paced backcountry. Each new experience has been invaluable. I am currently working as Education Registrar at the Cincinnati Zoo matching guests with opportunities to meet their needs. My previous education adventure was at the London Zoo as the London Learning Manager. There, I oversaw the daily operations of the Discovery & Learning schools team. Every day saw the admission of students from across London and southern England to this world-class institution, and every day we strove to give our students and teachers the best educational experience possible. From educational sessions for nursery to college level to self-guided activities, education is the heart of the zoo school experience.Before London, I spent five years working in Jackson, Mississippi at the Jackson Zoo in a variety of roles. As Director of Education at the Jackson Zoo, I was committed to providing authentic, educational experiences for all zoo guests that connect them directly to nature and wildlife and that engage, inspire, and empower our audiences toward action. During my time at the zoo, I also worked with our social media, communications management, interpretive signage, and school liaison. For many years before Jackson, I was an educator at the Cincinnati Zoo, I worked directly with children, families and adults with programs, camp, and special events. One of my favorite things was seeing our participants highly engaged in a program that I researched and created.
