Working closely with the CEO and a small team at Filmhouse, the project architects and external consultants to manage consultation activity, develop the building designs, produce strategic documents and promotional materials, and prepare and submit the planning application; all whilst adapting to the changing context of the Covid pandemic. * This is my 10th role working for CMI, a charity that runs cinemas in Edinburgh and Aberdeen, the annual Edinburgh International Film Festival, and is a hub for learning and talent development.

    Worked with the Gallery Director and University colleagues to manage the strategic, operational and creative activities of the University’s public gallery and meet commitments to the University, funders, artistic partners and the public. Responsibilities included overseeing planning and resources to deliver 3-6 exhibitions per year (£20-£100k budgets each), managing finances and accounts, fundraising agreements, artist and partner contracts, audience engagement strategy, shipping and care of artworks, monitoring and evaluation, liaison with Estates, HR and Finance departments, and line management of the Gallery Technician and Gallery Assistant. Exhibitions included major solo shows (Luc Tuymans, Alice Neel, Hanna Darboven, Rachel Maclean, John Akomfrah and Lucy Skaer), regular group shows featuring emerging and established artists ranging from student exhibitions to the British Art Show 8, and also a dynamic outdoor installation by Tony Oursler.

    Project managed takeover of the lease and operating contract for the Belmont Media Centre in Aberdeen, now rebranded Belmont Filmhouse. Helping to ensure a smooth transition for all stakeholders, I was the primary contact for the building owners Aberdeen City Council, the exiting tenants Picturehouse, CMI's lawyers, building surveyors and IT consultants, and the transferring cinema staff. Working closely with CMI's CEO and Head of Finance and the Edinburgh Filmhouse team, I was responsible for ensuring the project ran to schedule and budget, that the Belmont staff had the support needed, and that all equipment and IT was in place and operational with only a one day of closure.
