I was part of a small team that writes a book of Cat XL and Risk XL business. I mainly worked on the US book but had some exposure to the International account too. I was involved in the underwriting of the business from start to finish - from broker and client meetings, modeling, risk assessment and peer review. The peer review process was very thorough and involved a presentation to the senior management team and every other underwriter at Lancashire explaining why I felt I should write each deal and justify the written line size.

I was an integral part of the set up of the Harbor Point operation in London. My main role and responsibility was to work with the property treaty underwriter to price deals. Given that I have Property Fac underwriting experience I was able to underwrite Per Risk Treaty XL Reinsurance on D & F accounts with some knowledge. I also worked with the Marine underwriter pricing Gulf of Mexico deals & some Onshore Energy business. I drove the creation of the Per Risk Treaty pricing tool & worked on improving the other pricing models. I also created and monitored the Risk accumulations aggregate exposure tool across the company. My job involved dealing with brokers on a daily basis and using Excel and PowerPoint to an intermediate level.
