You will learn how to supervise (up to 3) students in a professional manner, with measurable key performance indicators (KPIs) for both mentor and student. The mentor’s duties will provide an opportunity to guide students through decisions and actions regarding their; academic careers, work-readiness training, personal development plans, psychosocial support needs and professional conduct. Mentor Key Responsibilities *Monthly briefing meeting with the mentor manager*Monthly individual meetings with your mentees (often via video call) -You will be provided with an easy-to-fill tracker to capture the content & outcomes of these mentorship sessions. *Monthly debriefing meeting with the mentor manager (sometimes as a group with other mentors)*Adhoc availability to answer mentees advice queries via Whatsapp/text/email throughout the month*Available for adhoc opportunity to report on your mentee’s progress to their bursary sponsor -These are often HR managers in your sector and could be an opportunity to earn job offers.

I was selected as one of the youngest interns for the program (London office), and worked in the Securities Department (sales and trading). The internship included 2 weeks of training, followed by weeklong rotations on Equities and FICC desks. This was an intense 19-hour-day routine that included working on weekends. Daily activities included collecting news from a plethora of countries & markets, and summarizing these for senior managers & clients. We also did equity valuations, and learned the price drivers behind derivative investments. We constantly had to come up with trade ideas for all the different types of products traded by the company, along with doing projects for desks which allowed for a better understanding of the different desks trade.
