About Luis Camacho
As a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Texas at El Paso/ W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation, I conduct research on large-scale additive manufacturing, material characterization, and reverse engineering, using modern tools and software such as BAAM 3D printer, FARO laser scan arm, and DesignX. I also lead a project for an external collaborator that included material characterization for large-scale 3D printed composite polymer parts. My research is not limited to my thesis work, it has been published at the Solid Free Form Symposium of 2023 and I am currently pursuing a peer-reviewed publication. With a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree, I have a strong academic background and a passion for learning and innovation. I have gained valuable experience and skills in designing, manufacturing, testing, and troubleshooting through various projects and competitions, such as Mini-Baja, Shell-Eco Marathon, and Steel Bridge. I have also developed leadership, teamwork, and communication skills through my roles as a secretary, co-captain, lead manufacturer, and teaching assistant in different organizations and clubs.
