Under his stage moniker, Cara Bella, Luis Rafael Velazquez has been a pioneering promoter and curator of NYC's music and arts scene since 2006. Major projects include the long-running Brain-Cave Festival and the Art Pussy collective – of which he is also a founding member. The numerous venues and organizations he has collaborated with include The Bell House, MOMA PS1, Baby's All Right and Miami Art Basel, as well as a three-day festival in Puerto Rico called Arte Dale Arte. Influenced by the likes of artists and philosophers such as Alfred Jarry, Alejandro Jodorovsky, Jean-Paul Sartre, John Cassevetes, and Salvador Dali, Velazquez uses theatre as a medium to promote the concept of transforming typical show gatherings into intimate, psychedelic and singular experiences.
