I discovered engineering in high school when I participated in the FIRST Robotic Competition. I learned how we could put together unrelated mechanical parts and create a useful device. Even though I was far from being able to build a robot on my own, I knew that wanted work in something related to robotics and technology. The summer after the competition, I started to learn programming on my own through books and started to build small robots using LEGO Mindstorms.In CEGEP, I was introduced to a new piece of equipment that would further open the door to many possibilities: the Arduino Mega. Since then, I started making multiple mechatronics project such as an automated vehicle and a drone. I was mostly learning how to do these projects by myself (thank you Youtube!) and applying some concept taught in class. In my second year of CEGEP, I went back to my high school and created an extracurricular activity where I taught students how to use Arduino microcontrollers to build small mechatronics project. I started studying Mechanical Engineering at McGill, and quickly took on a computer science minor. This enabled me to merge my academic curriculum and my passion together. It allowed me to gain the required knowledge in mechanical, electrical and software branches of technology, along with bringing me closer to my dream of creating complex machines easy to use. I have also kept testing myself by participating to numerous competitions such as the McGill physics Hackaton, QEC (Quebec Engineering Competition), and Engineering Games, while maintaining high academic standards.
