Luiz has returned to Brazil after 12 years career with Microsoft Corporation and joined Azevedo Sette as a senior partner and member of the Executive Committee. Luiz brings a vast experience in dealing with all matters related to IT, Software and Internet as well as his insights from being a General Counsel. During his years at Microsoft, Luiz lead a group of more than 170 lawyers worldwide.Luiz leads the M&A cross-border practice in the firm Corporate Department. Luiz practice concentrates on Mergers and Acquisition and Corporate Matters and has led dozens transactions since with emphasis on cross-border M&A.

Prior to his decision to return to Brazil, Luiz was the Associate General Counsel for Microsoft Corporation and the Lead Attorney for the Worldwide Commercial Legal team. Luiz lead a group of more than 170 lawyers across dozens of Subsidiaries providing legal support for worldwide commercial transactions in excess value of US$58 Billion. In his position Luiz was also responsible for all programmatic legal work for Microsoft sales organization and support to all sales units worldwide.

Luiz led the Microsoft Legal and Corporate Affairs practice first in Brazil and later for the all Latin America and Caribbean based in Fort Lauderdale, FL. As the Regional Lead Counsel for Latin America, Luiz provided legal support and strategic advice in legal and public policy to 21 subsidiaries in the region and its business leaders, and creates ties with governments, industry and community organizations across the region. Luiz built the legal department in the region hiring and developing a team of more than 40 professionals. He was also decisive in critical antitrust cases in the region and in public policies discussions related to open source.
