I advised the Australian-Consul General in New York, and other senior Australian diplomats on domestic legislative and political developments with the potential to affect Australia’s interests in the Northeast of the United States.I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to design and implement the Consulate’s first comprehensive government outreach program to successfully secure meetings with US State Governors, US Congress Members, local elected officials and policy experts. I identified over 200 engagement opportunities and delivered high level bilateral meetings with Governors and US Senators. Under limited supervision and direction, I developed, extended and maintained relationships with the offices of federal, state and local US elected officials and regularly liaised with policy experts and political interlocutors.During the 2020 US general election I conducted complex research, reporting and analysis, publishing diplomatic cables, presentations and visual explainers for Australian businesses and government officials looking to navigate the election and other US issues, including COVID-19.

Planned, coordinated and implemented the local logistical operations and program needs of official visits to New York by Federal Ministers and senior officials, including international visits by the Australian Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and former Prime Ministers.I led the local delivery of concurrent Prime Minister and Foreign Minister visits for the 2019 United Nations General Assembly. Working under limited supervision alongside Australian representatives, to design and implement accommodation and office requirements, complex security plans with the US Secret Service, transport schedules including motorcade movements and the visit’s advance program. My advanced forward planning strategies and contingency planning allowed me flexibility to respond to urgent requests and changes, without stalling wider visit planning.

Supervised and coached a team of five event staff responsible for assessing and issuing public event and filming production permits, and compliance. As Senior Coordinator I was regularly tasked with providing advice to executive management to guide decisions in relation to complex, high-risk commercial event proposals, identifying their logistical complexities, safety considerations and assessing their alignment with the city’s event and infrastructure works calendar Under limited direction I initiated a range of internal process improvement projects, seeking best-practice solutions to reduce red-tape and inefficiencies detrimental to customer relations and risks to public safety. I also contributed to the delivery of City of Melbourne’s major event projects including the city’s New Year’s Eve Celebration. Responsible for overseeing operations, risk and safety compliance at one of the city’s major fireworks and entertainment live sites.

Assessed proposals and issued permits for events taking place in the City of Melbourne, in accordance with local regulations and statutory requirements. I regularly provided practical advice and assistance on event operations to ensure the delivery of safe and successful events. Onsite, I oversaw emergency, risk and amenity compliance for major public events, including the Australian Open, city wide festivals and marathons. I maintained vital working relationships with key event stakeholders to secure solutions and agreements, including with emergency services, traffic authorities, public transport providers, community organisations and Melbourne businesses and residents.

Planned and delivered the logistical requirements and programming for the organisation’s key annual event projects, including municipality wide Australia Day celebrations and the Southern Mornington Peninsula's New Year’s Eve safety and security operations. I sourced sponsors and creative content, overseeing contractors, and providing in-person and written advice to inform Council reports and executive management.Delivering the Council’s public event triennial funding program, I coordinated the application process, associated program marketing, as well as assessed and issued funds to over 80 successful event recipients in accordance with Council requirements. Over a two-year period, I coordinated and successfully implemented a Shire-wide initiative, which sought to reformat and consolidate multi-department processes involved in the public event permit application procedure. The new consolidated process, a first for any municipality in the state, dramatically minimised red tape and improved public communication around statutory and local regulations for public events, while cutting approval wait times by two thirds.

Providing administrative, logistical and customer service support to senior team members responsible for the delivery of the municipality’s public events and regulatory functions, including assessing and issuing event permits for activities in public space.I independently coordinated a review of the Shire’s community event signage policy and as a result delivered a minor infrastructure project installing permanent signage structures for community groups to advertise their public events. The review completely eliminated roadside signage clutter and addressed traffic and public safety concerns.
