Midwestern Citizen is a non-partisan undergraduate publication, based at the University of Michigan and present at universities across the Midwest. The publication provides readers with analysis and commentary focused on law, policy, and sociocultural phenomena, published twice every month. The objective of MC is to promote the free exchange of ideas that consider what it takes to build a flourishing society of responsible, free-thinking individuals.

Teaching students nuanced economic concepts while grading weekly homework assignments.

Tutoring student-athletes in subjects ranging from statistics to economics and history.

Managed a successful city wide city council race. Ran strategy, logistics, and outreach efforts. Worked with the candidate to speak with groups across the city.

Served in Representative Lewis’s office. Researched bills that came before the House committees on Healthcare reform, Mental Health, and rural development.

Managed call time, fundraising emails, and donor outreach. Raised over $90,000 for a campaign that won in a competitive district by double digits.

Worked to strengthen party infrastructure within the Kansas City and Jackson County areas. Ran fundraising events, compiled financial reports and media lists, and conducted campaign research.

Researched and wrote pieces explaining, op-eds on, and policy proposals on infrastructure and housing policy.

Constructed a rent reasonableness database by researching and collecting data on housing units in seven counties in central Missouri. Over a hundred units have been recorded.

Worked with other field organizers to recruit, manage, and train volunteers and motivate voters all through either virtual means or via phone. Entered and managed data on VAN and Microsoft Excel. Canvased multiple communities in Western Michigan as targeted by VAN.

Student volunteer organizer role for Bernie Sanders campaign. Organized for 10 hours per week on campus. Duties consisted of coordinationing, training, and recruiting of volunteers.
