When my previous area was split in two, I decided to go with the Asset Lending side of the business, in order to experience something new.I still manage a small team, am responsible for the technical architecture within the area, and setting technical direction and best practice. In addition, I am now involved in aiding with the overall technical direction and best practice for the whole of Investec, as well as taking responsibility for the Transactional, Lending and Cash arm of the business from a technical perspective.I continue to work as a developer in addition to my new responsibilities. To date, some of my major deliveries include: - Integration of a new payments platform, Bottomline, with out existing on-prem systems, via Azure. - Development of an SMS reminder system to aid our collections team in receiving payments, which later evolved into a broader API for managing all communications. - Integration of our ICS business' Lendscape systems with our internal business current accounts. - Implementation of an API for loan aggregators to connect in to our core lending offerings (currently in progress, est. Feb 2025). - A scheduling system to aid in managing of scheduled batch jobs, as a replacement for our existing on-prem scheduling systems.

My transition into this role came as Investec experienced a major restructuring both in terms of organisational structure and technical approach. As soon as I started in the role, I need to very quickly upskill in the entire Azure stack, managing a team, infrastructure as code, the lending side of Investec's business, and C# (although I did have a lot of experience in this thanks to my work with XMPT).Within the first six months in the role, I played a pivotal role in the development and delivery of a new mortgage origination tool, written fully in Azure. This was alongside skilling up in everything listed above, managing a team for the first time, and stepping into the architecture side of software development.In addition to the mortgage origination tool, I also worked to deliver: - A mortgage repayment schedule, APRC and fees calculator, integrated into Dynamics CRM and connected to Excel via Graph API and Sharepoint Online. - A postcode look-up service, back-ended by Experian. - Integration of our ABL business' Lendscape instance into our central data lakes.

I worked as one of a team developers within the core ESB team maintaining and developing the WebSphere Message Broker (IIB) and MQ infrastructure for the investment side of the bank.Development consisted of Java, ESQL, XSLT, Dojo/JavaScript, SQL Server and little bit of C++. We also made use of various other technologies such as Google's search APIs and Agile Apps.A standard day involved balancing time between working closely with the business to resolve ESB issues as urgently as possible, whilst also keeping up progress on large development tasks.Some of the larger projects I worked on within the team were: - Developing Investec's MIFID2 trade reporting infrastructure from scratch, as well as writing the underlying FIX-based engine. - Creating the back-end for a share trading platform called Shareplan Services. - Integrating a major trading platform via FIX named Tradepoint. - A full re-write of the bank's FX transaction reporting system in Python. - Automated deployments and DevOps infrastructure using Jenkins and Octopus. - Creation of an exposure checking service for our Asset Finance business (back-end and front-end).

Whilst working at IBM I founded and managed a game development team of twenty people. I then established XMPT Games in 2012 with four other team members and was elected Director.I am one of two developers within the team. Since the company's creation, we have released two main titles on Playstation Vita, and a newer release for PC via Steam named DiscStorm (www.discstorm.co.uk). This title is due to be release on PS4 and PSVita shortly. More recently, we have begun work on a 3D VR project for the HTC Vive.We have a number of other accolades to our name too, including:- Finalists in Sony's Playstation Pioneers 2012.- Top 15 out of 500+ entries in Ludum Dare 2015.- Top 10 out of 250+ in the 2013 Indie Speed Run.- Winners of the 2013 Creative Assembly Game Jam at Rezzed.In addition to development, I have been responsible for composing the majority of our music and handling the business side of the company. All of this has been achieved using only my spare time, whilst working full time as a software engineer at IBM and Investec.

As part of an agile team, I led the system and functional testing effort on a variety offeatures within Liberty including JMX, web server plug-in, MongoDB and Dynacache. Thisinvolved significant test automation using an extended version of JUnit, as well as markeddevelopment contributions to the Java-based tooling itself.

I gained a wealth of experience as owner and lead developer of the CICS system test automationinfrastructure, whilst also playing a key role in the design and creation of the tools that it comprised. Development included a huge variety of technologies such as Java, MQ, DB2, COBOL,JCL, UNIX shell and CICS API.In addition, I led the test planning for a selection of communications features, including functionshipping, MQ bridge, DTR/DPL, JDBC and Liberty security. I also managed SCRUM-based teammeetings for a number of months and chaired multiple design meetings.

I developed new features for the MQ/CICS test tooling, as well as fixing defects. This provided asolid grounding in CICS and MQ application development, some experience with other tools likeCTG and Broker, as well as practical expertise in COBOL, Java and ReXX. I also quickly becameproficient in z/OS, UNIX and Windows command line.
