I'm excited to be bringing my experience, such as it is, to helping lead the technology team at an awesome Israeli agricultural technology startup Clarifruit. Clarifruit is transforming the global fresh produce industry with it's automated, end-to-end quality control as a service (QCaaS) platform that facilitates fast, objective, and consistent fresh fruit and vegetable quality control. By providing fresh produce growers, wholesalers, marketing companies, and retailers with high-quality control data, it empowers them to make informed business decisions, reduce waste, and maximize profitability across the supply chain.We have a bright team of coders who are building an awesome product using a great tech stack of Python/TensorFlow for machine learning and vision processing, a Java/MongoDB back end and mobile app and browser clients.

As a software architect I have found my perfect role. Combining my love of technology with my desire to positively influence decisions and directions in the development group.I contribute to code design, code reviews and software selection. I've established patterns and templates for different project types, practices and guidelines for different languages. Primarily I am focussed on delivering cloud hosted solutions in Amazon AWS with HTML5, Java and MongoDB on CentOS linux servers. Alongside this primary set of projects, I am also involved in our projects using NodeJS, .NET, PHP, SQL Server, MySQL and SOLR/Lucene.I also stay an active programmer, keeping involved in projects I've helped to design. I feel this is a crucial part of being a successful architect and not getting disconnected from what's important.

Working as a senior member of the development team at Infomedia I have been responsible for various aspects of the Microsoft .Net version of Infomedia's electronic parts catalogue (EPC) software written in C#.I have both led and participated in small teams, engaged in planning and decision making processes, and am proud to have been able to deliver quality software to a timeline.

With Infomedia listing on the public stock exchange, and growing at a fantastic rate, I took on a management role looking after a small team and taking responsibility for the communications area of our development effort. This role included responsibility for integration with third party software and the development of Internet based versions of our software.

Returned to Sydney after my stint in the UK as a contractor, and resumed work as a programmer on the electronic parts catalogue (EPC) software. At around this time the company was making its first forays into a web based solution, and I took on the challenge of making our web front ends. We made several versions of this software, in HTML/JavaScript/ASP using an early form of AJAX technology, a Flash/ASP version and a Visual Basic 6.0 version. In the end the company settled on the Flash based rich Internet application (RIA) approach.

Moved to the UK at around the same time Infomedia secured its pivotal European contracts, and spent two years assisting with the technical aspects of introducing Infomedia's electronic parts catalogue (EPC) to the European markets. In particular I worked with clients such as Ford of Europe to integrate the EPC software with dealer management systems (DMS) in automotive dealerships using Visual Basic 3.0 to implement serial and TCP/IP based solutions.

Trained in C for the Macintosh platform, and transitioned to Visual Basic on the PC. Worked on electronic parts catalogue (EPC) software for Australian clients. At the time the company consisted of 8 employees, and grew to 30 or so by 1997.

Joining Infomedia when it was a small startup of 8 people was an exciting beginning to my career. I started doing some simple catalogue building, essentially data entry. At high school I was a keen amateur programmer, and I had dipped a toe into commercial software and built a successful bespoke commercial software application to help a magazine company manage their business. The technologies I used to build this solution on the Mac happened to be the same as Infomedia was using to build its electronic parts catalog (EPC) Microcat. I quickly started taking on the job training in C and my programming career was in motion at 17 straight out of high school.
