Summer Student Programme ran by the research institute every year. I was chosen on the basis of interest in science and research in an academic setting. The programme involved several different duties but the main aim was to have our own research project. My topic was 'The late effects of childhood cancer treatment on dental health.' Me and my peer then planned and organised an event for our presentations at which a local county councillor attended, amongst other guests. In addition, I designed and edited the bi-monthly newsletter for the institute. The programme allowed me to build on administrative duties as I had to work on a budget, do filing, and run general administrative tasks.
