As a Community Outreach and Marketing specialist, I have three main objectives--to promote home purchases in the organization's catchment area (four West Baltimore neighborhoods), market our home-buying workshop to all prospective homebuyers in Baltimore City, and increase the use of Healthy Neighborhoods loan and grant programs by prospective homeowners and current residents. I do this in a number of ways that reinforce each other as outreach strategies.No stranger to strangers--I canvass neighborhoods with literature and present about our home-buying workshops, homes for sales in our communities, and Healthy Neighborhoods loan and grant programs at all community associations. I also table at events and community hubs, collaborate with community institutions to produce housing and finance related activities/events, facilitate discussion and present all of the above information at our monthly home-buying workshops. I also research and maintain knowledge of the housing market and community developments in our area. I work with real-estate agents by reaching out to them to inform them of our home-buying workshops their clients may be interested in and getting them to include our verbiage in their home listings.A large part of my position requires identifying community leaders and recruiting volunteers to serve as block captains and ambassadors, maintaining communication with partner organizations (such as churches, businesses and other non-profits,) designing, editing, and updating content for the organization's website and social media networks, and producing a quarterly newsletter for 2,300 community residents. In my role as the Community Outreach and Marketing Specialist I have established three major partnerships, and created a new community workshop series.
