I'm currently focused on two things: aligning developers across teams so that we can achieve larger goals, and leveling up my coworkers by finding opportunities for them to grow. Highlights include:- Coordinating and running a monthly meeting with engineers across the company that's focused on aligning engineers on frontend topics and also on teaching new skills in areas such as accessibility, performance, and security.- Being team lead on two key projects within a Django app that builds insurance documents.- Writing a considerable amount of documentation on complex systems my team owns. This has resulted in far faster onboarding for new engineers joining the team.

My primary focus during this time was on how we could maintain and scale white label apps. This involved incremental rewrites to existing code so that styling and configuring our apps was more maintainable.

I led a small team of three frontend engineers. We were responsible for all web properties across the company such as our core web app (algorithmia.com), the company blog, and company documentation.We used a variety of tools such as React, Vue, GraphQL, Cypress, Jekyll, WordPress, Kubernetes, and AWS.

I worked on a small team that owned all web properties and API clients across the company. We worked regularly in TypeScript, Ruby, Scala, and PHP. Key work included:- Migrating existing apps into the company's Kubernetes cluster.- Adding new features to algorithmia.com regularly.- Moving the blog from 'blog.algorithmia.com' to 'algorithmia.com/blog' for SEO reasons.- Adding Prometheus and Grafana to several web apps for increased visibility into the health of our apps.

I wrote a Webpack plugin that allowed frontend developers across the company to code split within their apps. This was previously not possible due to a constraint in how we deployed static assets to a CDN.

I worked on three different teams during my time at Overstock, but the bulk of my time was spent on the team responsible for search results pages. These pages are some of the highest traffic pages on the site, receiving millions of requests per day.I launched several large features during this time, but my main focus was on performance. I was able to make significant improvements to key metrics such as time to interactive and perceived render time by changing how our assets were built, cached, and fetched.

I worked as the sole JavaScript developer for a small film streaming company. I spent the first year focused on building out and supporting a new web platform. It was a server side rendered React application our users could use to watch films, share content, and add films to our platform.Once that was live, the CEO put me in charge of the design, development, and launch of an Apple TV app. I built that using a combination of JavaScript and Swift, and it was our highest rated platform.I also added push notifications to our existing mobile app, and created a Chromecast receiver application to enable Chromecast support in our web app.
