In my three year tenure as Chair of the Board of Fairtrade International (FI) my leadership resulted in the following significant outcomes:• Recruitment and guidance of two outstanding Chief Executives who continue to operate in a successfully functioning co-leadership model• Oversight of improved delivery on climate change initiatives including a key presence in the first ever participation by FI at a UNFCCC COP - COP 26 in Glasgow• Led significant changes to the governance and management of FI’s sister certifying organisation: FLOCERT, of which the FI Board represents the sole shareholder. These initiatives were unanimously agreed by the FI Board• Oversight of an FI annual (balanced) budget of over $USD 32 million• Hugely increased visibility in international fora, including keynote speaking engagements with Trade Finance Global, France - Africa Business Forum, Global Forest Summit and the World Trade Symposium among others• Oversight, monitoring and review of FI’s Five Year Strategy 2020-2025. Important new elements approved by the FI Board included the adoption of the FI Sustainable Agriculture Policy, procedures for operations in conflict zones, and FI global brand architecture• In the course of my three year tenure I chaired the following meetings: Board Meetings (17), Board Recruitment Committee (17), Board Chair Advisory Committee (14), FI System combined Chairs’ Group (4), EXCO meetings (36)• Chaired three successive General Assemblies (2020 -2023) including one entirely virtually during the period of the global COVID pandemic. These General Assemblies led to the adoption of important constitutional and structural reforms affecting the entire FI system. Notably, a number of operations became both more efficient and more inclusive of small holder producers from Africa, Latin America and the Asia Pacific• Re-elected with an overwhelming mandate to the FI Board at the General Assembly of 2023
