About Lynn Werlich
I am servant leader at heart. I lead a department of 40 people and with an annual budget of 30 million euro. I work under the principle being clear is kind, being unclear is unkind. I invest in a culture where colleagues feel empowered to give and receive feedback, address conflicts, share and learn from mistakes and have space to innovate. I make decisions with courage to increase our overall impact and legitimacy. I make work fun by using my creativity. I have an eye for strategic funding and cooperation opportunities. My team is now more diverse and inclusive and we build on each other's strengths. I notice this improves our decision making and increases creativity in the department. I ensure the work conditions are optimal so that all of the projects are successful in terms of fundraising and in delivering impact. The last two years we realized great impact. We funded over 500 community organisations and networks to end AIDS. In doing so, we reached almost 13 million people with HIV, STI and other sexual health services. We provided HIV treatment and care to 42,000 refugees in Ukraine. We realized a 20% increase in Dutch and EU contributions to the international HIV response in the last few years. This leads to a Dutch contribution of € 242 million. My family history and my own lived experiences have made me committed to address injustices in health and rights, open to diversity, understand trauma better, aware of my privileges and respectful to people. Foremost it has showed me the importance of love, empowerment, sex positivity and the feeling of belonging.
