I play a hands-on role in following and teaching the way of Jesus through the context of Hope Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. No day is the same, but a lot of the same things occur like teaching from scripture, providing counsel and a listening ear, helping find ways to meet needs for our church family and our community, planning Sunday morning gatherings, managing our website and email, and lots and lots of praying.

I assumed a full sales role in Jan 2018. Thanks to ongoing sales coaching from Long on Life, LLC and their Salty Sales Training program, as well as marketing and communication studies at Wizard Academy in Austin, TX, I'm much better at it too. Much of my day-day-to-day looks like the following:• Identifying & building relationships with businesses who fit our audience• Designing advertising campaigns for small to large businesses• Advising business leaders on effective marketing strategies• Writing and producing meaningful commercials• Coaching business leaders on relational & transactional forms of advertising• Programming commercial and non-commercial radio traffic• Designing digital and social media advertising campaignsI get to learn about some incredible people doing business in Central Ohio, share their messages with our large and loyal audience, and help fund a ministry that is making a difference.

I started as a junior marketing consultant, which meant I got to learn the ropes of advertising sales and radio marketing from veterans at an award-winning Christian radio station. Much of my day-to-day included:• Researching and identifying small to large businesses that were a fit for our audience• Joint sales calls with veteran marketing consultants• Writing and producing meaningful commercials• Practicing and learning relational & transactional forms of advertising• Learning to program commercial and non-commercial radio trafficI got to see firsthand the effectiveness of radio and advertising, and how to sell with the heart of a servant.

Radio is fun. It’s personal. And it’s an amazing medium to learn how to handle people. Through Resound Radio, I got to have hands on experience learning about every facet of a station – From DJ to programming to management.I shared relatable and meaningful content through the afternoon show “Amp Up,” balanced opinions and art as music director, and learned that leading is giving up: giving up your comfort, giving up your time for others, giving up your opinion to let someone else grow. Some more things I learned included:• Communicating the vision of the leadership to the organization in a way that the whole team is bought in and pursues that vision• Delegating operations to help grow the individual, and not simply cross out a task• Acting as a bridge between our constituencies and the team• Developing just as a deeply a passion for the people on your team as the passion for the team's mission• Storytelling & Broadcast Communication• Radio Programming• Making the station about the listener, not about meServing in these roles meant pursuing growth; growth of the station, and growth of its people. Resound Radio is training ground for future media professionals to hone their skills before graduating from college. Creating an atmosphere where my team was free to stretch and expand their talent, while instilling the parameters of professional models for them to emulate, was an extremely rewarding experience.

Digital and social media marketing are important aspects in any business now. I got to handle an actual marketing campaign using social media and digital elements, allowing me to gain confidence and experience as a digital marketer. During my time as the summer marketing director for the Chick-fil-A Polaris location, I:• Created a new and fresh Facebook strategy for the store's account• Advised restaurant leadership on practices and policies for future digital and social media marketing• Guided store leadership, team members, and customers through the rollout of the Chick-fil-A One app• Tackled regular team member responsibilities like customer service, food prep, and store maintenance• Cooked fries. A lot of fries.Ultimately, I learned that digital and social media marketing still boils down to showing the customer you care. Because it should be their pleasure to be there.
