I joined Broadlees Golf in May 2009 to open their new 9 hole golf course. This business began in November 2004 with a Golf Driving Range, Coffee shop and then the introduction of the course. Duties• Day to day running of booking golf procedure. This involves excellent communication and customer service skills ensuring customers are able to book in quickly and effectively and enjoy their experience.• Communications with customers and promoting events mainly using social media, website and emails. • Managing of Golf Competitions. This year we became affiliated to the Scottish Golf Union to allow us to run gents and ladies competitions. It is my job to draw up fixture lists, run competitions and record results. • Managing of Junior Golf Academy: we promote golf to children aged 5-14 years. Since I started in 2009 the number of attendees has more than doubled to 108 children attending lessons being active in sport and thus encouraging a healthy lifestyle.• Coordinating of promotional events. e.g we hold an annual golf festival for 180 local primary school children. This event gives every child no matter their background, the chance to have an introductory day learning golf and furthermore aims to promote an active and healthy lifestyle. I was successful in applying for funding from Whitelees Windfarm to allow this event to be fully subsidised for all children participating. • Managing and organising of events in the coffee shop: during the winter we have gift and craft nights and charity afternoon tea days when the golf course is quieter. I organise and promote these events, liaising with kitchen staff where food is required, designing posters, tickets and promotion.•I trained to be a level 1 golf coach to allow me to assist a PGA Professional in the coaching of children in golf. This allows me to give something back to the sport and see the benefit in today’s youth. In order to do this I have my PVG Disclosure.
