I joined Broadlees Golf in May 2009 to open their new 9 hole golf course. This business began in November 2004 with a Golf Driving Range, Coffee shop and then the introduction of the course. Duties• Day to day running of booking golf procedure. This involves excellent communication and customer service skills ensuring customers are able to book in quickly and effectively and enjoy their experience.• Communications with customers and promoting events mainly using social media, website and emails. • Managing of Golf Competitions. This year we became affiliated to the Scottish Golf Union to allow us to run gents and ladies competitions. It is my job to draw up fixture lists, run competitions and record results. • Managing of Junior Golf Academy: we promote golf to children aged 5-14 years. Since I started in 2009 the number of attendees has more than doubled to 108 children attending lessons being active in sport and thus encouraging a healthy lifestyle.• Coordinating of promotional events. e.g we hold an annual golf festival for 180 local primary school children. This event gives every child no matter their background, the chance to have an introductory day learning golf and furthermore aims to promote an active and healthy lifestyle. I was successful in applying for funding from Whitelees Windfarm to allow this event to be fully subsidised for all children participating. • Managing and organising of events in the coffee shop: during the winter we have gift and craft nights and charity afternoon tea days when the golf course is quieter. I organise and promote these events, liaising with kitchen staff where food is required, designing posters, tickets and promotion.•I trained to be a level 1 golf coach to allow me to assist a PGA Professional in the coaching of children in golf. This allows me to give something back to the sport and see the benefit in today’s youth. In order to do this I have my PVG Disclosure.

My role within the company was to manage and promote telesales and wholesaler accounts and develop new marketing strategies. Duties and skills are outlined below.• Frequent customer contact to promote sales of existing and new products using multimedia and also dealing swiftly and sympathetically with customer complaints.• Coordination of Marketing Exhibitions. For example, Foodex Meatex Exhibition at NEC Birmingham which involved liaison with stand contractors and designers, ordering company T-shirts, booking flights, hotels, exhibitor passes and organising daily staffing timetables.• Management of the production of a company catalogue – this was my promotional initiative as I realised that telesales customers had no means of knowing the vast range of company products available to them. • Attending monthly departmental meetings reviewing sales performance and discussing forthcoming promotions.• Analysis of the frequency of customer Internet searches in order to establish the potential need for a new product.

This programme provides graduates with the knowledge and skills required for a management role within 12 months. I successfully gained one of 150 jobs with Arcadia out of over 10,000 applicants and was selected as one of 5 graduates for the Wallis brand. I spent my first 6 months based in Buchanan Galleries, Glasgow training in key managerial duties. The duties and skills I developed are outlined below and were enhanced when I was seconded to Stirling as Store Manager in March 2007. • Be a role model to staff by being a team player, exhibiting a ‘can do’ and ‘hands on’ attitude and providing a friendly and efficient customer service in order to build strong customer relationships. • Use visual merchandising techniques and my own creative initiative to target the customer base and maximise sales.• Plan staff scheduling carefully, closely monitor payroll costs and recruit staff as necessary in order to provide an effective service within budget.• Conduct staff appraisals and deal with demanding situations, such as customer complaints and staff disciplinary issues.• Communicate confidently with colleagues at all levels within Wallis and with customers.• Motivate staff through incentives and personal encouragement to achieve and exceed weekly sales and store card targets. As manager of Stirling branch I turned the store around from being the worst in Scotland for store card recruitment to being the top store and managed to exceed the store target by 33%.• Report data to the Area Manager and liase with area colleagues.
