I am thrilled to have been invited to join the board of Nonprofit Connect. The NPC mission, to empower nonprofits through education, resources and networking so they can more effectively fulfill their missions, aligns beautifully with the work I get to do every day in my consulting practice. I am honored to work with the outstanding staff at Nonprofit Connect and to share the board table with some of the best nonprofit minds in Kansas City.

In this volunteer role my work focuses on providing information and ideas that advance the capacity of nonprofit leaders to guide the development and implementation of strategy in their organizations. To that end, I select speakers for Center's First Mondays webinars, support recruitment of experts in nonprofit strategy for the annual international conference, and generally seek to ensure that addressing the unique opportunities and challenges of nonprofit strategic planning continue to be present in ASP's work globally.

Lynne Brown brings 30 years of non-profit experience to her work as a strategic planning and board development consultant. Her background includes everything from working as a fund-raiser and Communications Director for non-profit groups to serving as chairman of the board for non-profit organizations in Kansas City and Denver. Her experience on the staff of non-profit health care organizations gave her front line experience in fund-raising, lobbying, member and community relations, as well as the art and science of working with board committees and volunteers. Those experiences proved valuable when Lynne moved to the for-profit world working in public relations and advertising at several agencies in Denver, including her own company, Spectrum Public Relations. Lynne's greatest insights come from her extensive experience as a volunteer organizer of non-profit events and activities, as a leader of non-profit boards, and serving in an interim leader for nonprofit organizations. These experiences combine to give Lynne a deep understanding of the unique nature of the non-profit world: negotiating the sometimes delicate balance between board, committee and staff, the ever-present fund-raising challenges, the art of inspiring volunteers to devote time, energy and passion to an organization. Because she has worn many hats--staffer, volunteer, board member-she brings a unique perspective to every client and organization she works with. Lynne has successfully supported hundreds of iBossWell clients in strategic plan development and implementation.I specialize in strategic planning and board development for non-profit organizations.
