I am privileged to be continuing to support the Children's University as a trustee, as well as pursuing a range of different projects. Current research continues to highlight the relevance and need for us to create learning experiences beyond the normal school day to open ALL children's eyes to what they could aspire to, and to develop the skills and confidence to make the most of it. With the help of our school and family members, and partners across business, HE and the charity sector, we are determined to reach our goal of making children's university accessible to all.

After 3 years as Director of Learning I have the privilege of leading the organisation into an exciting new phase of development. Working in partnership with the Chief Executive of Children's University Scotland, and our network of local managers, we are currently growing at our fastest rate ever in the UK, with new international projects starting in China, Sri Lanka and India, alongside our rapidly growing CU in Australia. My role is to make sure that whilst we are open to all, we continue to target work in areas where children need it most. Our evaluations show us that we make a real difference to children's confidence and aspirations for the future. We are building the support of some amazing and creative partners to bring the benefits of CU to even more young people.

The Children's University is a unique national organisation encouraging and supporting aspirational out-of-school-hours learning for children aged 7-14. There are currently around 62 local Children's Universities in England reaching more than 85,000 children a year, with further centres in Wales and Scotland. In this role I will be leading and managing the development of the national Children's University curriculum, focussing on children, how they learn and what needs to happen to make them want to learn. My key responsibilities include the development of validated Learning Destinations and the learning Passport, enhancing partnerships with other organisations, developing a pilot for 5-7 year olds and establishing a mentoring and volunteering framework to support learning.

I was a senior curriculum advisor with QCDA with responsibility for devising and implementing a programme of activities and research to ensure that monitoring, evaluation and dissemination of effective curriculum development is supported by a broad and robust evidence base. I was also the UK representative for ReferNet, the EU's development programme for vocational learning. I led the work of the national consortium in disseminating recent developments and progress in vocational learning for both young people and adult learners.
