I strongly believe that self-awareness is the key quality that leads to many outcomes we want in life. Communicating effectively. Adapting with resilience. Leading effectively. My mission is to develop self-awareness in others towards their learning and growth by leveraging my research, teaching, and counselling expertise, as well as my experiences having grown up across Asia, North America, and Europe, while I continue to develop my own.In academia, I am an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behaviour at Ivey Business School. My research has focused on cross-cultural differences in human behaviour in a variety of workplace contexts such as negotiations, teams, and motivation. My teaching has focused on developing business school students (across the HBA, MSc in International Business, CEMS Master of International Management, and PhD programs) into global leaders, with an emphasis on developing their cultural intelligence. In the MSc program, I run the Ivey Global Lab, an international practicum that sends students to local companies in developing economies (India, Nicaragua, Peru, Thailand, Vietnam) so they can gain immediate emerging market consulting experience. Media coverage on my teaching and research has appeared in Forbes Magazine, Fast Company, The Globe & Mail, Psychology Today, and various reports published by Harvard Law School.In practice, I am a Registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Director at Canada Career Counselling. I provide career counselling to clients who are at critical points in their lives; they are often questioning their careers and asking themselves why they do what they do. They are often feeling unfulfilled, purposeless, and stuck between the pain of staying where they are in their careers, and the pain of dealing with the confusion, stress, and anxiety of figuring out what career comes next. My approach to career counselling draws on psychotherapy which helps clients manage difficult emotions and develop self-awareness, while at the same time, focusing on making strategic, informed decisions with practical action-planning. I also provide psychotherapy on personal issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and interpersonal issues. I draw on evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Interpersonal Psychotherapy.Whatever I do, I bring a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural perspective to my work. I thrive on diversity and am attracted to ideas that cross boundaries.
