Secretary (April 2014 - December 2015)I have attended all chapter and board events, including monthly chapter, board, and advisory council meetings. When called upon, I assumed the officer position of Secretary in May 2014 with the intention of providing more transparent communication, detailed structure and organization to the Board. As a result of that, I organized and facilitated 3 day-long strategic planning sessions for the board, and crafted a detailed revision of by-laws with board leadership.

As a newly found chapter, I developed the internship program including program goals, materials and means of evaluation. I managed the interns to ensure they are meeting personal and program objectives. As well as, planning enrichment activities for interns, I matched interns with the appropriate committee lead and mentored interns as needed.

I sat enthusiastically on the charter school board as a community member and held the position of Governance Committee Chair for the 2013-14 and 2014-2015 school years. I have interviewed, vetted, and hired new Directors of the Board as Chair of the Nominating Committee. As an active member of the Principal Evaluation Task Force, I evaluated the Principal/Executive Director during their annual review. I have represented OCS at "A School Governance Workshop" by The High Bar/ExED and reported on BoardOnTrack software program and guided the Board through a organizational process, and participated in the Proposition 1D Task Force to prioritize improvements that match OCS’s loan budget. Finally, I attended "Brown Act, Best Practices/Board Governance Workshop" to master charter school law.

I was self-employed with a national e-commerce and personal styling business that markets and sells accessories online, at in-home trunk shows, and person-to-person. As a leader, I shared this empowering experience with other women who are looking for a new revenue source and the independence to style their own life. I created a personalized online and community marketing plan to acquire new customers, resulting in growing sales. I also promoted economic empowerment and education for women and girls by raising funds for the Stella & Dot Foundation which benefit Girls Inc., BuildOn, and Accion USA.

As a mid-level manager, I oversaw quality educational, compliance, and development programs by creating new curriculum and programs, maintaining budgets, and evaluating the quantitative and qualitative results of every program. I hired, trained, and supervised all 25 staff members of various California programs: 3-day camp program, college tours, vocational education courses, and scholarship programs. I acted as business partner with clients by marketing services and customizing programming to meet needs for their at-risk student population which includes 7th - 12th graders in alternative independent charter schools throughout the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

I tutored middle school students in English Language Arts and Math during an after-school program at the Pasadena Unified School District using an interactive e-curriculum program combined with a unique focused instruction curriculum.

This internship/independent consultancy enriched my experience with non-government organizations. I cataloged and researched current trends in order to publish entries for monthly Gender Task Team Update. While revising case studies focusing upon gender inequalities from various humanitarian organizations to include in database, I interacted much with various members of INEE. While based in DC, I consulted on the revision of training materials for the IASC (InterAgency Standing Committee) Education Cluster's Joint Needs Assessment Toolkit.

• Washington Semester Program – I was the lead facilitator for the Basic Mediation Training to undergraduates studying conflict resolution. This training was conducted biannually for each cohort of students during the school year. (October 2008, February 2009)• Ashoka – I facilitated the annual 2-day interactive, strategic planning retreat for the Global Marketing Team. (February 2009)• Creative Peace Initiatives – I trained twenty-five graduate and undergraduate students to facilitate lessons on dehumanization at the high school level. (October 2008)• Dialogue Development Group – I co-facilitated two semester-long dialogues at American University: “Exploring Your Social Class” with students and “Exploring the Role and Reality of Diversity in Community” with staff members. (August 2008 - June 2009)

While working for Search for Common Ground, I designed the format for e-curriculum modules while creating four new learning modules with interactive pages. This e-curriculum will be accessed by international staff who are in need of self-training for design, monitoring, and evaluation (DM&E) skills to apply to their peacebuilding projects. I also assisted in the planning and facilitating of a week-long training on the practices of DM&E while producing the final report to fulfill the grant provisions from the United States Institute of Peace.

I worked closely with advertising firms while creating promotional print material for marketing of the IPCR Division. I also created a capacity-building proposal for the division and wrote nominations for awards and grants. It was quite rewarding experience to assist numerous graduate student groups as campus liaison advertising and promoting their functions.

I wrote grants to private foundations requesting funding for the “Kigali Seminar on Peace and Conflict Resolution” in Rwanda during May 2007.

I facilitated civil rights and empowerment lessons to various high school student assemblies (250 students/session) in the Los Angeles Unified School District. I also promoted the “living history” trip which spreads the values of non-violence and public activism to school administrators, parents, and students at various group meetings.

I managed teachers in Social Studies Department while writing a department philosophy, coordinating curriculum and pacing plans, and standardizing instruction to implement a rigorous education. As department head, I also budgeted and planned the school calendar and events as a member of High School Leadership Team. I was successful at teaching 9th grade U.S. History and 11th grade A.P. U.S. History in a culturally-sensitive manner to classes with an 85% Mexican student population and earned an AP pass rate of 96%. I also chaired a 10-day study abroad multidisciplinary trip for over 60 students to Boston, MA in 2005 and 2006. During this trip, I coordinated the detailed itinerary, chaperoned students, guided tours, and managed a diverse chaperone team.

I managed a high school program with over 250 English Learners speaking a dozen different native languages. I met regularly with elementary and middle school ELD Coordinators to create vertically aligned district policy. I advocated needed changes to course offerings in order to comply with a court decision (Comité de los Padres) that protects the rights of English learners. I chaired the ELD Department by guiding 15 teachers of English, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science to create an interdisciplinary SDAIE (Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English) curriculum.

I taught Global Issues and United States History: Mainstream and SDAIE level courses. This included developing curriculum for a yearlong Global Issues course focusing upon Latin America, Africa, and Asia. I also served as President of the CCHS School Site Council (faculty, staff, parents, and students) and was responsible for all campus programs, balanced school budget and encouraged creation and development of school-wide learning programs. I enjoyed coaching and cultivating a Varsity Club Ice Hockey Team from inception with a handful of enthusiastic players who helped form a multi-ethnic, multi-grade level team during 2002 – 2004.

I taught United States History and Sociology to 11th and 12th graders. While teaching religion, I emphasized tolerance and acceptance of world religions. I also instructed students about social issues and encouraged them to develop critical problem solving skills. I also led a five day long Los Niños trip to Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico to build schools for the disadvantaged. As well as teaching, I coached Girls and Boys Varsity Tennis Teams and Girls Junior Varsity Tennis Team over a period of five years. I was a Club Moderator for many diverse clubs, including Students Against Drinking and Driving (SADD).
