ABOUT AMERICAN INDIA FOUNDATION (AIF): Founded in 2001, at the initiative of President Clinton responding to Prime Minister Vajpayee's suggestion, the American India Foundation (AIF) is one of the leading United States-based foundations focused on disrupting poverty and catalyzing social and economic change in India, and is a trusted bridge for Americans and Indians to channel their philanthropy towards defined projects in India. Working with 248 Indian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) over the past 14 years, AIF has invested over $100 million in education, livelihoods, and public health programs, in 23 of the 29 States in India, that have impacted the lives of over 2.5 million marginalized Indians. We have 396 Clinton Fellows who serve for ten months at over 120 high-quality Indian NGOs and social enterprises, introduced technology to improve the education of 1 million students through the Digital Equalizer program, and trained over 105,000 individuals to work in the evolving job market. AIF has 11 active volunteer led chapters in cities across the U.S. in addition to our main offices in New York City and the Bay Area in the U.S. and New Delhi in India.
