My over 25 years in education have demonstrated my unwavering commitment to working with traditionally underserved communities. I deeply believe that access to education and other opportunities are still a critical issue of concern in our country. As a first-generation college student of color, I have seen firsthand the effect that education has had in my life and in the lives of my students. Although we have made gains in education, we still have work to do to ensure a truly equitable and quality education for all. My experiences as a successful teacher and school leader provide me with the insight and practical hands-on knowledge to identify issues and provide concrete action steps that will lead to results.
