Designed and built the book reviews service for the 1+ billion book reviews on the site, using DynamoDB backend plus OpenSearch to allow arbitrary searching and filtering. Designed and built Kindle integrations of Goodreads data. Championed operational excellence, e.g. tech debt cleanups, load testing, documenting oncall processes. Hired and mentored.

Developed web and mobile applications as a consulting service, primarily focused on Django and Ruby on Rails using cloud hosting platforms (e.g. Heroku). As a principal in a small business, I was active in marketing, customer acquisition, and hiring, in addition to my normal engineering roles.

Co-founded a software analysis tools company. Developed a C++ static analysis tool to find critical safety and security defects.

Developed infrastructure software in C++ and Java for the DDG-1000 project, primarily an LDAP-style directory service exposed to CORBA clients. Participated in all phases of development from requirements analysis to acceptance testing.

Developed unit testing tools, helped transition from C-only to full C/C++ support (parsing, code generation), analyzed performance and implemented optimizations.
