• Implements Countywide solid waste management programs with a focus on backyard composting, commercial organics recycling, K-12 waste reduction education, and County waste facility tours. • Coordinates and monitors compliance with various state regulations aimed at waste reduction, including AB 341, AB 1826, and SB 1383.• Conducts education and outreach campaigns to spread awareness about existing programs and the correct ways to dispose of waste.

Encinitas & Santa Barbara

• Conducts fieldwork including botanical and wildlife focus surveys for special-status species, vegetation mapping, jurisdictional delineations, habitat restoration monitoring, and biological constraints reconnaissance surveys. • Prepares a variety of technical reports such as biological technical reports (BTRs), biological resource assessment reports (BRARs), biological sections of Environmental Impact Reports (EIRs), biological assessments (BA) for Endangered Species Act Section 7 Consultation, focused survey reports, and various monitoring reports. • Prepares permitting packages in application for permits associated with jurisdictional aquatic resources under Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB), California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), and/or California Coastal Commission (CCC) jurisdiction. • Monitors project compliance with obtained project permits and associated permit conditions.

• Participated in field work and upkeep of the multiple campus owned restoration sites managed by CCBER while gaining knowledge of native dune, grassland, chaparral, oak woodland, and coast scrub plant species.• Included identification and weeding of invasive plant species, collecting seed in the field, nursery work, and transplanting seedlings on site.

Environmental Affairs Board

The Associated Students Environmental Affairs Board is the largest environmental group at UCSB, and is lead completely by students and funded by student fees.• Publicity Chair (2013-2014): Assisted in the organization and publicizing of events and activities through various physical, media, and online avenues, while researching and purchasing promotional materials from environmentally conscious companies. • Sustainable Business Chair (2014-2015): Organized events to collaborate with local businesses to help strengthen their sustainable practices utilizing student purchasing power, and led reform of UCSB Associated Students sustainability legislation.• Social Chair (2015-present): Facilitated weekly hikes to provide students with access to nature and local environment; responsible for organizing various socially focused events to foster a tight knit community and network of environmental collaborators.

Associated Students Recycling

• Serviced various trash, recycling, compost, and e-waste collection sites on campus disposing of subsequent waste correctly and responsibly, while working to improve the infrastructure of campus recycling and increase student awareness to maximize total waste diversion.

Young Lab

• Assisted a research project in the UCSB Young Lab seeking to understand the role and interactions of nematode parasites in salt marsh community networks.• Performed field collection of organisms, parasite detection and identification with dissection and compound microscopes, and infection incubation techniques.
