Serve as a first responder to the Village of Sundridge, Township of Strong, Township of Joly, and Mutual Aid response to neighboring municipalities for fire, rescue, and medical emergencies.Report to platoon Fire Captain as well and the Fire Chief as per the departments hierarchy system in both emergency and non- emergency operations.Act as Duty Officer once a week and one weekend once a month to ensure senior emergency response and radio coverage.Attend and participate in regular internal training as well as specialized training.Maintain a credible appearance and representation of the fire department on a professional level to the public.Operate and test apparatus and equipment consisting of apparatus circle check, driving the apparatus, inspecting, and testing breathing apparatus and air cylinders, operation of powered tools and auto extrication equipment, checking inventory and operation of medical equipment.Attended and participate in volunteer community outreach events.

Provide callers to the Spills Action Centre with expertise advice and guidance on legislative requirements and responsibilities to ensure compliance with regulated environmental activities. knowledge of environmental legislation such as the EPA, especially Part X Spills, SDWA, OWRA, Pesticides Act, and other statues, example; Canadian Environmental Protection Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, Fisheries Act, etc.Resolve conflicts between complainants and polluters, to advise parties at risk, and to negotiate with owners and controllers of spilled pollutants to agree to remedial measures.Excellent written communication skills to prepare concise and accurate occurrence reports to communicate the facts, status, and priority of events to other staff within and outside the Ministry.
