In addition to the responsibilities I had when I previously held this position in 2019, my role this term also included the following: - Working and delivering projects with minimal supervision; - Assisting teams in Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan with environmental compliance and project delivery; - Working with First Nations groups and other stakeholders including provincial regulators, Transport Canada, and private landowners; - Organizing and leading monthly meetings with the students of NHS Engineering Services North and West to ensure students had an opportunity to connect with their peers, share lessons learned and experiences, and have access to a supportive network. My responsibilities included: - Completing groundwater monitoring and sampling programs including monitoring groundwater levels and headspace vapour levels, collecting samples using both low flow and conventional purge methodologies, and trouble-shooting equipment operation issues. - Collecting soil samples, ensuring test pits were in correct locations, and logging the soil stratigraphy and depths of test pits. - Monitoring and collecting soil vapour samples including performing leak tests and recording biodegradation measurements. - Preparing samples for shipment to analytical laboratories and completed chain of custody documents. - Actively engaging in Health and Safety through reviewing Health and Safety Plans, completing field H&S forms, and participating in on-site daily tailgate meetings.
