About Mackenzie De Heer

As Commerce student majoring in marketing and Management who also completed first year of a law degree, I have gained a variety of skills from both studying and working part time in both retail and the food industry. Through these I have completed many goals such as getting accepted into second year for my law degree and getting a part time job for a company I really wanted to be part of when I was younger. Through my part time jobs and study I have reinforced my communication and time management skills as well as my ability to work well in a team both in a work and educational environment. I feel as though I have valuable experience in customer service, legal research, critical writing, sales that would benefit my career in the future. In addition to working I am also very motivated and committed to by studies and degree. I put in high levels of effort and strive towards good grades and feedback, maintaining a good academic record. I am excited to move forward and progress with both my degree and job so I can build more skills and experiences while preparing to move into full time work in either a law or management field. Through my degree I am learning valuable marketing and management skills that I can incorporate into my job and everyday life to further strengthen my future career and goals.I believe that the skills and attributes I hold would make me a strong candidate for any job or position as I am hard working, goal driven and determined to complete things to a high standard. The diverse skills I carry as well as my passion and attitude for learning would make me an asset for any team. In addition to work and studies I am also very passionate about my sports and hobbies. Equestrian and my horses in general have been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have competed in various equestrian events around the north island and have learned that with success comes hard work, patience, resilience and determination. The passion I have for my sport has turned it into a hobby as my everyday life revolves around my horses when I am not working or studying.

I volunteered with RDA to help individuals with disabilities be able to still enjoy horse riding as much as someone who is able to do it all on their own. I provided support to the riders and helped in all areas I could including instructing them and helping them learn to ride. In addition to helping out with riding and lessons I also helped with general yard work like helping ride the horses out of work to keep them fit and ready to ride, mucking out and feeding horses, cover changing and gear cleaning and general maintenance of the horses and stables.
