Senior Network Engineer

Seattle, Wa

August 2010, The Cobalt Group was acquired by ADP for $412 million.Corporate Relocation - Designed/Architected the enterprise network to support 800 associates in 4 floors of a new building. Integration - Assisted as necessary with the network integration project, providing connectivity as required.

Aug 2010 - Nov 2010

Senior Network Engineer

The Cobalt Group

Seattle, Wa

Network Lead, Architect, and Security (Cisco)• Datacenter - Faced with having to relocate our production datacenter in 90 days, I was directly responsible for architecture and implementation of the network relocation. The new architecture added redundancy and a tremendous amount of scalability to the business. I implemented dual Cisco 6509’s with redundant Sup720’s as a collapsed core, Cisco 7201’s, 3750G’s, 2960’s, ASA 5540 Firewalls with IPS, and F5 BigIP 6400 load balancers. Technologies include layer3 routing (EIGRP & eBGP), GLBP, Policy Based Routing, Multiple STP, and 802.1q. This infrastructure today supports approximately 9000 web sites, half of all the automotive dealerships in the U.S. • Call Center - Upon being awarded a large contract we were faced with hiring 350 people and 120 days to implement. I was directly responsible for architecture and implementation of the network and the Cisco Voice Over IP system which included redundant Call Manager’s, redundant UCC Express, Calabrio call recording, and Unity voicemail to support a 400 node call center. The network is all layer 3 routing (EIGRP) (routed access layer). The network infrastructure is completely redundant in the core and distribution layers for all the VoIP services. • Security - Re-architected the site to site VPN infrastructure of nine locations to be scalable, reliable, and manageable utilizing redundant Cisco ASA firewalls. This required upgrading the existing firewalls from a Pix or Juniper Netscreen to an ASA (5510, 5520 or 5540), implemented Cisco Security Manager. Remote access VPN was completely re-designed to leverage group-policy tied back to Active Directory via AAA for IPSec and SSL VPN on the ASA’s which supports 900 associates. • Experienced leading a team of 3 network engineers for Voice, Data and Network Security. All network implementations are documented in detail using Visio. I negotiate with the telco, Cisco and VAR’s for pricing as well as options.

May 2007 - Aug 2010

Senior Network Support Specialist

Seatac, Wa

Network Design and Security (Cisco)• I am experienced in enterprise architecture working in a team of five engineers. The enterprise network supported approximately 8000 users, 350 Windows servers, a mainframe, several Unix/Solaris servers, and VMware, 150 remote stations (Nome to Cancun). I established standards and met with vendors; justified expenditures via a written business case. • NOFEP – Architected a solution to connect to Sabre bypassing their FEP (front end processor) eliminating the need for x.25. Using frame-relay, Cisco 2800 ISR routers, PIX firewalls, Stateful NAT, and EIGRP, I worked with the telco to ensure 100% redundancy between Seattle and Tulsa. I was able to achieve absolute diversity for this mission critical data and migrated 8000 workstations off the IP to X.25 solution.• SHNS OC-48 – Implemented SHNS utilizing an OC-48 ring for five local buildings (campus networking). This expanded the network ensuring years of capacity. Implemented dual 6509 SUP1a w/MSFC’s (upgraded later to Sup720’s). I transitioned the network to core distribution access architecture.• Compliance: Faced with PCI and SOX, I architected and designed network device security which standardized on router/switch configurations and implemented AAA. • Name Services – I architected the internal and external name services to support www.alaskaair.com. Using Win2k DNS and F5 3DNS I was able to support business continuance and disaster recovery. This enabled us to load balance across multiple datacenters and eliminated outages for www.alaskaair.com. • Network Management: Architected a network monitoring solution utilizing Netscout RMON probes, Observer, Wireshark and Solarwinds Orion. This enabled me to identify two application issues within Informix. This saved $54,000 annually.• Automation: I have nine years experience with PERL. I created a NOC web page used to support x.25 leveraging CGI, Apache and Perl to query Cisco routers via SNMP and SSH
