Mackenzie O'Donnell is a Television News Producer at WRAL. Colleagues describe them as "Mackenzie was a great asset to the Talent team at AAE! She's easy to work with, always polite, and has a can-do attitude that is very much appreciated on our fast-moving team. She's also shown to be a quick learner, swiftly getting a handle on talent calls, topical research, and email communications. I loved how she didn't shy away from asking questions, not only to clarify project execution, but also to truly grasp the why behind a task. She's a problem solver, making suggestions for improvement from day 1!" and "I had the pleasure of supervising Mackenzie in her position as a Media & Design Center (MDC) Assistant from August 2021 to December 2022. During her time at the MDC, Mackenzie demonstrated strong customer service skills and did an amazing job of consistently engaging with patrons. She was always kind, courteous, and willing to go above and beyond to connect patrons with the resources and services they needed. Mackenzie was helpful to everyone, including her coworkers and supervisors, and regularly completed her assigned tasks without being asked or reminded. Mackenzie was dependable and showed initiative in all aspects of her work. She was more than willing to do whatever was asked of her, but also sought out additional responsibility and project work. She paid close attention to what happened around her in order to apply her observations to future interactions. I was appreciative of her desire to learn and expand her knowledge to better help MDC patrons. It may go without saying, but Mackenzie has fantastic communication skills! She could always be counted on to share necessary information, whether that involved a scheduling conflict in her personal life, something going on with a patron in the MDC, or a suggestion for how to make a process or policy more streamlined. She clearly conveyed information to patrons and supervisors and didn't hesitate to ask for help when she needed it. Her questions were consistently timely and thoughtful. While at the MDC, Mackenzie also demonstrated and continued to develop her strong video and audio production skills. She completed a variety of multimedia projects for the MDC and regularly assisted MDC patrons with their own production projects. She is well versed in many Adobe programs, including Premiere Pro and Audition. Mackenzie was a valued member of the MDC team. She was a quick learner, had creative ideas that she was always willing to share, and her enthusiastic nature brought some much needed energy to the MDC when we reopened after the pandemic. Mack seemed to get along with everyone and I particularly loved how much she helped her coworkers! I highly recommend Mackenzie for work in broadcast journalism or any other field that can utilize and display her wide array of fantastic talents!"
