I'm a Winston-Salem-born North Carolinian who is very proud to have adopted Charlotte as my hometown. For 15 years, I've dug deep into a community-focused career. Empowering and uplifting the people in our community is what keeps me going. I love writing and designing, and I love helping others share their stories. I also love planning events and creating opportunities for people to make memories and grow closer together as community members. When I was a young person, I encountered the world as a low-income, first-generation college student without the kinds of support systems I really needed. But I quickly learned that my passion for people could open a community-focused career. I ran with it, and am proud today to have come as far as I have — all the while giving back and serving my neighbors and the community. I currently work as Director of Communications and Digital Engagement at St. Stephen United Methodist Church. Outside of the "work church," I'm an active member of my "home church" faith community, St. John's Baptist, where I serve as a deacon and on a variety of leadership teams. I am beginning part-time studies for two ministry certificates at BSK Theological Seminary, formerly the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky. I love traveling to the beautiful North Carolina mountains, but, honestly, I should try to get to the Carolina coast a little more often, too.
