I help my company pilot aerial survey to count salmon to collect baseline. I manage and analyze high data load for data and technical analysis.I get excited about opportunities to infuse studies with creativity and innovation that helps the environment.I love connecting with new people!"Macus Ong graduated from MSc in Ecological Restoration at Simon Fraser University and British Columbia Institute of Technology. Macus developed proposals and successfully received funding to pilot a cormorant research in British Columbia, Canada. He studied at-risk Double-crested, and Pelagic Cormorants using combined photogrammetric and traditional in-person methods to monitor cormorants, particularly cormorants nesting on urban bridges and offshore islets. Macus worked closely with analysts, biologists, engineers, and contractors from the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, Canadian Wildlife Service, Hemmera, City of Vancouver, and Cascadia Port Management Corporation. Macus continuously proves to be very competitive in his work and has delivered presentations, to funding organizations and stakeholders, in government meetings and international conferences. With a BSc in Oceanography, Macus shows an extensive interest in environmental stewardship and creating a voice for the environment and wildlife. Since 2009, Macus has started photography and won multiple awards nationally and internationally. Some of his awards include a Runner-up of a cormorant image in BBC Wildlife, and honorable mention of his art in Serbia. Macus also holds numerous awards in Malaysia and the UK and had his work published and showcased in multiple exhibitions. Diversity in teaching, coaching, educational consulting, and more importantly his creative eyes, coupled with his most recent experience in fisheries, makes him a leader and team player with strong interpersonal skills. Aside from a good public speaker and Vice President of Education in a Toastmasters Club, he specializes in making and delivering unique Keynote presentations, as well his attention to details makes him a good candidate in project collaboration and management.I seek to work with and for marine animals, seeking opportunities to combine my skills in photography, restoration, education and outreach, and social media in helping marine animals thrive better in the wild.
