Sedsxfemxtr Co-Lead
In this program, SEDS has partnered with UCSD's formula SAE team, Triton Racing, to give mentors to first year women in engineering who are members of these project teams. As a co-lead, I have taken the helm of the sub-organization and am now in charge of recruiting women in our sought demographic, organizing meetings, and meeting with my mentee one on one for professional, academic, and technical support. I planned and executed networking events and tours with surrounding aerospace companies such as Northrop Grumman and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. In my second year of leadership, we saw a 200% increase in applications, and a 100% retention rate halfway through the program.

- Measured, and used a rotary tool and angle grinder to cut valve access holes and venting holes in the galvanized steel aeroshell of liquid bipropellant rocket Vulcan II for pressurization safety.- Finalized clipped-delta fin design with mount plate in Solidworks, optimizing shape for 3D printing.- Manufactured 3+ wet-layup fiberglass fins using thermally resistant epoxy-resin capable of withstanding heat generated by air resistance during rocket flight.- Ensured Vulcan II’s positional stability during a day-long Water Flow test for whole-system check.
