I am a devoted junior-year student at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. I am double majoring in Human Development and Family Studies, and Psychology. I have job experience in Madison, Wisconsin, Austin, Texas, and Lansing, Michigan. I am interested in a career in research and observation of child development with an aspiration of becoming a college professor in fields related to early childhood as well as overall family development, including how psychological aspects and history contribute to familial perception and belonging. I have been a student assistant at the Child Development Lab at UW-Madison for the last year, and I work with several 2-year-olds while tracking their development. My experience here and my classes about infant care have taught me the importance of child development in several domains. I am passionate about how children and adolescents think and perceive their surroundings, and becoming involved in bettering society and expanding knowledge through research. I am looking for an internship that will provide me with experience in this domain and preparation to get a higher level of education. I would like a Masters degree and will ideally strive towards a PhD in either psychology or child development. I am also interested in serving human beings in general after taking several classes focused on interpersonal communication and navigating conflict in leadership roles. Some of my strengths are responsibility, deliberation, inclusiveness, and a positive attitude. I would most want to emphasize these in myself because I believe they are qualities that all leaders should have. I can use these strengths professionally by working hard to understand my coworkers and what they are best suited for, while my responsibility and deliberation would keep me on top of my work. I also believe some of these strengths would help me build connections professionally and personally. The most important values to express in my career are dependability and contribution because these are very important for teamwork and getting things done professionally and effectively. I believe these skills that I have accumulated through my different teaching positions over the years would prepare me well for a position that involves building connections and managing conflict.
