I had a designated group of first year students from my course and acted as a point of contact for anything they may need assistance with, from help with managing the course to guidance about student life in Nottingham. Much of my role consisted of signposting my mentees to NTU services or other student support facilities to assist with any areas of concern that are beyond my ability. I participated in welcome activities, such as course introductions, ice breakers and campus tours within 'welcome week' to help the new students settle into university life and help them get acquainted with the campus. I made regular contact with my mentees to ensure they were getting on okay and to remind them of my role as a mentor and the areas I am able to help with.

This role involves assisting in the daily running of the City Global Lounge and greeting students who come in. My role is to engage with anyone who comes into the lounge and make them feel welcome. I also assist with the planning and execution of both the daily events and one-off events put on for specific cultural occasions. In addition, I will be planning and running my own event whilst in this role. This role enables me to gain a valuable insight into a range of different cultures and communicate with people from all over the world, as well as exercising my teamworking and adaptability skills as no two days are the same and each activity is dependent on who is in the lounge at that time.

I assist the NBS Study Abroad Team at NTU Open Days and various other events, promoting study abroad to both current and prospective students and answering any questions they may have.

I volunteered as a Student Academic Mentor on a COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) project, between Nottingham Trent University and I-Shou University, focusing on Leadership and Diversity in Contemporary Organisational Contexts. This was a HR based project, which involved overcoming conflicts in multicultural workplaces. This project enhanced my cross-cultural understanding and we bought together diverse perspectives and ideas to build the student's projects. It was especially valuable to be able to maintain connections to the university I attended during my time in Taiwan and to continue so support the partnership between NTU and ISU.

As part of my sandwich year, I completed a 4-month placement at The Plastic Man, where I managed a range of products across various areas of the business. I was in charge of various tasks and projects, the first of which was creating an introductory presentation to be used in company meetings with new clients. Most of my time was spent working on an energy reduction project, researching and implementing ways in which the company premises can become more energy efficient. My final and favourite project was based around designing and creating a range of products designed for events and events organisers, and managing the sale and promotion of the range through Etsy and Pinterest.

This role began as a part time job, greeting and chatting to customers whilst taking orders, making drinks and serving cakes and food. I adapted to become a full time member of staff over the COVID-19 lockdown where we operated as takeaway only, I also baked a range of cakes and biscuits to be sold in the shop, as well as having the responsibility of opening and closing the shop, and training new staff. As a specialty coffee shop, deep knowledge of coffee and other beverages was required, I memorised a vast menu of speciality drinks along with the notes and details of the different coffee beans we used and sold.

I am in charge of the Facebook and Instagram channels for Cafe2U Lichfield, creating and posting regular content and helping out at occasional events. This role requires me to collect and create content, as well as helping to come up with ideas of increasing sales and updating menu items. I have become very familiar with platforms such as Canva and Facebook Business Suite throughout this role, and have gained an insight into the social media industry.

Throughout the initial lockdown, I was helping out as a full-time factory assistant, packing and sending clear protective screens to key businesses across the country to enable them to operate safely during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. We dealt with high levels of unprecedented demand and were working under strict deadlines due to the nature of the pandemic.
