I detail and draft cold-formed steel drawings for engineers.

I provided support to studies in forest ecology, ecophysiology, ecohydrology, and biogeochemistry in the Aubrey Lab.

I worked for the City of Oak Ridge in their Stormwater Management division as an AmeriCorps member. My primary responsibility and goal was to promote their Healthy Waters Program which is designed to educate the local population on how to keep our streams and water healthy through more eco-friendly practices. I was largely involved in outreach and education to students at the local schools. I also helped plan, organize, and implement events, including clean-up and volunteer events to help raise awareness for the health of our stormwater. Additionally to my outreach and education work I also aided in checking grading permits for the city, ArcGIS mapping, and water sampling/testing when needed.

I received job markups and drawings(wall sections, wall openings, general notes, elevations, typical details) from the civil engineers and drew them using AutoCAD. I also cleaned elevations on Paint and completed various other office tasks. With this job I have gained experience in an office setting and gained an understanding of the job process from proposal, setup, detail, draft, engineer, and review.

During my 11 week fire ecology internship, I gained valuable field experience primarily in the longleaf pine ecosystem as well as shortleaf pine, beech-magnolia hammock, and swamps. The specific experience I gained included: -Measuring diameter and crown height of trees for a long-term census in their old-growth beech-magnolia hammock. I also had to identify species of small trees and sprouts to recruit into the census as well as use azimuth and distance from nearby trees to map them. -Identified species of trees at hundreds of plots throughout the property for their forest community survey. -Entered data into Microsoft Excel and Access databases for several projects.-Cooperated constantly with another intern, working as a team, to accomplish all our field work while maintaining open communication with our boss.

I gained valuable experience working in a medical setting and as a part of a team while here. I developed stronger communication skills with ordering responsibilities, communicating and scheduling with the other ward orderly, adjusting to different needs in the ward day to day, and as a member of the orderly team. Duties included managing, restocking and ordering medical supplies and animal food for the ward, cleaning ward, cleaning and sterilizing medical instruments, making and stocking saline flush, laundry, and completing various other tasks the doctors and residents would request. I also had the opportunity to join the ward to Bear Hollow Zoo on a health check for their bobcat and assisted in setup and cleanup and observed the process.
