The Research and Education in Disease Diagnosis and Intervention (REDDI) Lab Outreach Team directly interacts externally and represents all other branches of the REDDI Lab. The primary purpose of the REDDI Lab Outreach team is to provide an interface between the lab and the community. The goals of the RESDI Lab outreach team are to educate the public with reliable information regarding the REDDI Lab, inspire the next generation of scientists and provide them with information and experiences of science, build external connections for the REDDI Lab, and strengthen internal relationships among the various REDDI Lab branches.The responsibilities of the Outreach and Communications Coordinator include overseeing outreach team meetings, serving as the primary point of contact for outreach events, handles correspondence of the outreach team, attend REDDI Lab staff meetings and reports outreach-related updates, represents the REDDI Lab in external formal events, regularly communicates with Clemson University officials, employees, and faculty, publishes an internal newsletter for the REDDI Lab, publishes informational products, plans and facilitates REDDI Lab showcases, organizes public health-related community service events, and organizes and attends educational events.

The Research and Education in Disease Diagnosis and Intervention (REDDI) Lab is Clemson University’s first CLIA-certified, high complexity public health lab located in upstate South Carolina. The REDDI Lab’s mission is to design and produce deployable diagnostics, therapeutics, and screening systems for remote communities.Undergraduate laboratory technicians are responsible for ensuring there are plenty of test tubes readily available upon request, transport testing supplies to testing locations, transport samples to the lab, initiate sample intake, heat treat samples, record and document Opentron robot assignments, and operate Opentron robots.
