As an intern with Geosyntec's Environmental Management department, I focused on environmental due diligence, environmental litigation support, and fieldwork. I have worked on several fast-paced environmental due diligence projects for high-level chemical distributors, industrial facilities, and development groups, which includes preparing over eight Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and seven Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans. I also provided litigation and allocation support to multiple high-value litigation cases. I reviewed and summarized technical and legal documents to aid in the preparation of reports for an over $500 million dollar cleanup and litigation effort. Additionally, I reviewed thousands of documents to be used in upcoming litigation cases. Moreover, I performed routine wastewater sampling and soil sampling.Throughout my internship, I researched and worked with several state and federal environmental acts, including RCRA, CWA, and CAA. I compiled findings from several Environmental, Health, and Safety audits and researched OSHA regulations in order to create an internal database and identify trends in the findings. I also became skilled in navigating state and federal databases and the Code of Federal Registrar.

I coordinate greenhouse usage among three different programs and analyze past data on program needs, availability, and produce yields to create planting lists and schedules that align with buyers’ needs and seasonal conditions. I also track current and future data that is used to increase our efficiency and guide future operations.I also research and analyze sustainability initiatives and state and local agricultural regulations, working toward increasing regulatory compliance. I then communicate my research to other team members to assess the feasibility of adopting different initiatives.

I facilitated crop production and implemented research-driven sustainable agricultural practices on a 7-acre organic farm and nonprofit community center. I planted and cared for over 1,000 plants, ensuring healthy soil quality and environmental conditions, managing pests, and collecting data on plant health and harvests. I helped improve our organizational system to efficiently compile, measure, and delegate farm priorities and projects. This system allowed us to better set goals, measure our progress, and led to a 100% weekly completion rate for the duration of the summer. Indertook dozens of unique projects, including researching and implementing drainage systems to address flooding, controlling weeds and pests, and identifying plants. Additionally, I took on a leadership role, overseeing up to three interns at a time and groups of more than 10 volunteers. Finally, I worked with the Nourishing Gardens Program Director to install gardens at community sites, which included coordinating with stakeholders, using grant funding, and adhering to county policies.

I worked on State Senator Will Smith's reelection campaign, canvassing and engaging in weekly community outreach in a district of 130,000 people. By gathering data and analyzing voters' concerns, I was able to provide campaign and policy recommendations to improve community support and engagement. Through meeting with Senator Smith and other legislators like David Moon and Lorig Charkoudian, I gained a deeper understanding of the General Assembly, specific committees, and the legislative process as a whole.

I lobbied for the Future Act (HB729), a bill written by this coalition to make Maryland's public Universities carbon-neutral by 2035. I also helped to mobilize and expand the Maryland Student Climate Action Coalition’s grassroots movement by running educational panels and community outreach events. I trained 50+ volunteers to engage state and local representatives, analyze climate policy and initiatives, and spread awareness on campus.
