About Madison S. Williams, Mgs
My name is Madison Williams, and I currently work for the Council on Aging in Cincinnati, Ohio. With the Council on Aging, I am acting as an Emerging Professional to work in case management and program operations to start my professional journey. I have recently earned a Master's of Gerontological Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Miami University. During my graduate career, I was a full-time student and a graduate research assistant. I worked with two Scripps Gerontology Center researchers on how to aid organizations across the nation in giving informal caregivers more support in their everyday lives when caring for older adults, whether it be through respite care, training opportunities, support groups, etc. In order to help the organizations, an online Learning Collaborative was set up for the 20 participating organizations to meet and share thoughts, listen to webinars regarding informal caregiving, and implement a new support method for their respective organization. I also helped develop a toolkit for the organizations to utilize. Moreover, during my time at Miami, I worked on the biennial long-term care survey, and a home care survey.Prior to my graduate career, I double majored in Long-Term Health Care Administration and Business Management Technology, and minored in Sociology. I first began my work in gerontology during the summer of 2019 when I worked closely with the Ombudsman at the AAA District 7. During my time there, my most notable work was being able to help find another home for residents who were the victims of a nursing home which abruptly closed. Then, during my sophomore year, I completed a 100-hour internship with low-income aging adults in the Scioto County community to encourage healthy dieting and exercising through a congregate meal program. At the end of my junior year, I began working as a personal care attendant for an assisted-living organization called Randall Residence, and I started a 600-hour internship with South Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation as an administrator-in-training. All my experiences have been great additions to my professional career in gerontology. As an ambitious, independent individual, I aim to become a responsible leader in the gerontological field. I am very driven as a student and employee, and I am eager to expand my connections. Please, feel free to connect with me, or reach out via e-mail.
