As a Local Pathways Fellow, I developed a project aligned with SDG 11.5, focusing on enhancing Christchurch, New Zealand's local emergency preparedness and risk awareness for youth and migrants. I designed and led workshops on natural hazard risks, emergency preparedness, and community resilience. The program was designed to also upskill community groups to sustain these efforts. Additionally, I completed the Sustainable Cities Online Course (SDG Academy) and facilitated international policy discussions on urban sustainability and resilience with other fellows. I now mentor the new cohort of fellows, guiding them through project development and sustainability challenges.

As a Policy Officer, I worked in the Intergovernmental Relations team, Data Analytics and Insight team and Native Title Negotiations & Aboriginal Engagement team. Achievements:• Developed a policy tracking tool to improve risk and opportunity analysis during and after the 2022 Federal election • Led the development of Western Australia’s interagency data science graduate program, managing five agencies and engaging with several universities in Perth• Created plain English community guidelines from complex native title legislation changes • Led the Western Australian monitoring of COVID-19 border and health changes and assisted in health policy funding negotiations between the states and the Federal Government • Developed internal guidelines to expedite natural disaster funding in the event of an emergency in Western Australia

As a Bushfire Consultant, I produced Bushfire Attack Level reports, Emergency Plans, Land Management Plans and Evacuation Assistance from self-conducted technical assessments. I worked with clients around Western Australia, including individuals, businesses, schools, and health centres. I assisted in delivering in-person bushfire awareness and risk reduction training backed by Australian Standards and policy guidelines. This involved preparing presentations and information booklets, liaising with trainees and businesses, and providing hands-on land management guidance.
