This was a research position within the University of Utah Department of Bioengineering. I worked closely with a small group of universities, professors, post-docs, graduate, and undergraduate engineers towards developing novel methods for peripheral nerve neuroprostheses. The main area of study was closed-loop controlled generation of lower-limb muscle forces towards recreating stance and gait in lower limb paralyzed individuals. Stimulation of and recording from peripheral nerves was accomplished using Utah Slanted Electrode Arrays. This position lead to many of my publications listed during this time period. My responsibilities included peripheral neurosurgery, development of real-time hardware and software, usage and design of force, pressure, EMG, and goniometry sensors and instrumentation, and preparation, documentation, and publishing of analyzed data.

As a group we were responsible for overseeing student team projects, ensuring that laboratories were prepared and completed successfully, and grading of student written laboratory reports.
