Blackrock Microsystems is a neurotechnology firm specializing in real-time electrophysiology platforms for in vivo neuroscience research, including human studies. • Managed electrical engineering, software design, and FDA-required regulatory testing for a cortically-implanted neural interface, in collaboration with a clinically-oriented U.S. University and DARPA.• Developed a speed- and memory-optimized Python code base for experimental data extraction and analysis used by a DARPA research consortium (and all customers).• Worked with electrical and software engineers to test and ensure new and updated products would meet all planned expectations.

Ripple is a neurotechnology firm specializing in real-time neural stimulation and recording platforms for in vivo neuroscience research, including human studies. As the company continued to grow, so did the need to manage the growth of the sales, support, and marketing team. This role incorporated all of the aspects of the prior roles of Application Specialist and Technical Sales Lead into a more managerial position of developing the long-term direction for Ripple's research products as well as mentoring the growing team to ensure that current and future clients continued to receive prompt, diligent, and effective interactions with everyone at Ripple.

This new additional role is to lead our product team in all aspects of sales, marketing, and support. This role has more managerial aspects that require creating and implementing processes to ensure that all interactions with current and potential clients are done diligently, efficiently, and promptly, as well as creating a sales process that can be sustainable over time as the company and product offerings continue to grow. This role is highly interactive with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing for creating processes to ensure that the right high-quality products get to customers in a timely manner. This role also incorporates a number of marketing aspects from website organization, trade show booths, print material, and engineering demonstrations.

This role is to support innovative neuroscience laboratories and find ways that our products can improve clients' research capabilities now, as well as provide a platform for future studies. My interactions with clients include product information, demonstrations, sales, installations, and most importantly support. I provide clients with on-going support not just for our products through creation of technical user manuals, but for their entire experimental design and implementation, including mechanical, electrical, bioengineering, and software systems. As part of my sales role, I travel to neurotechnology conferences to provide product information and demonstrations. Our company encourages internal collaboration that allows me to take part in mechanical, electrical, and software design and testing.

Center For Neural Engineering

This was a research position within the University of Utah Department of Bioengineering. I worked closely with a small group of universities, professors, post-docs, graduate, and undergraduate engineers towards developing novel methods for peripheral nerve neuroprostheses. The main area of study was closed-loop controlled generation of lower-limb muscle forces towards recreating stance and gait in lower limb paralyzed individuals. Stimulation of and recording from peripheral nerves was accomplished using Utah Slanted Electrode Arrays. This position lead to many of my publications listed during this time period. My responsibilities included peripheral neurosurgery, development of real-time hardware and software, usage and design of force, pressure, EMG, and goniometry sensors and instrumentation, and preparation, documentation, and publishing of analyzed data.

This laboratory required diverse teaching and laboratory abilities. I often led the group of 5-7 TAs because of my strong background and experience with this course and associated material. My responsibilities were to create original laboratories, write student handouts, assemble necessary hardware, sensors, and mechanisms, and write associated software for LabView, Matlab, and Arduino. As a group we were responsible for overseeing student team projects, ensuring that laboratories were prepared and completed successfully, and grading of student written laboratory reports.

This was a summer instructor position for a sophomore level numerical methods course for engineers. This course concentrated heavily on developing numerical methods for engineering computations using Matlab. As instructor I created original lecture, HW, quiz, and exam material, and was responsible for grading of all material.
