Continuing my work with the Haub School, I teach all levels of undergraduate courses in interdisciplinary environmental studies, art and environment, professional, academic, and technical writing, and place studies. I continue to provide holistic advising to interdisciplinary students, design and implement programmatic assessment plans for undergraduate degree and minor curricula, and engage in the scholarship of teaching and learning as well as place-based theory and practice in environmental studies.
Academic Professional Lecturer & Academic Programs Coordinator
Overseeing the student-centered aspects of the Haub School's Academic Programs, I serve our 250+ students as an academic and career advisor, instructor/lecturer, assessment coordinator, event planner, recruiter, field course designer, curriculum consultant, and much more. At the undergraduate level, Haub School students study a range of fields on campus, from Studio Art to Engineering, Botany to Business. They pursue an interdisciplinary, concurrent major in Environment & Natural Resources (ENR), a BS in Environmental Systems Science, and/or minors in ENR, Sustainability, and Outdoor Leadership. At the graduate level, students pursue concurrent graduate majors and minors in ENR or joint degrees with the College of Law.As an instructor, I teach Thinking Like a Mountain, a first-year seminar/introductory course investigating interdisciplinary thinking and ways of understanding current issues and policies in local to global environment and natural resource fields; Art & Environment, an inquiry-based course investigating the relationships between interpretation and representation of the natural world; and I facilitate our internship course, an independent study-style transition class preparing students for professional communication, technical and academic writing, and the skills needed to bridge their inquiry in academic and professional settings. Additionally, I teach for the University Honors Program, serve on the advisory board for the Social Justice Research Center, and serve as an affiliate faculty/academic professional in the Science & Mathematics Teaching Center and the Wyoming Institute for Humanities Research at the University of Wyoming.
